Nature Attractions around Coral Springs

Tall Cypress Natural Area

The Tall Cypress Natural Area is an unspoiled wilderness in the heart of Coral Springs. It’s a rare treat to find a spot as beautiful and untouched as this, especially in South Florida. The natural area is located on 66 acres of nature near Coral Springs and is home to several species of wildlife.

The area is named for its dominant features: tall cypress trees which tower over the swampy undergrowth. These trees create a dense canopy that makes up the majority of the Tall Cypress National Area, but there are also trails for hiking and biking. It includes a 2000-foot high boardwalk for visitors to enjoy views of the swampy countryside, but you may also enter the woods and explore on your own. There are restrooms at the parking lot, interpretive signs along the boardwalk, and a seating area where you can relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital

The Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital are located in Sportsplex Park on five acres of donated nature. Aside from providing an important service by rescuing and rehabilitating native animals and birds, the non-profit organization provides visitors with an excellent opportunity to learn about wildlife and ecology.

You will be able to get up and personal with a variety of resident birds, reptiles, and animals that were rescued and are unable to be returned to the wild when you visit. The center hosts regular educational activities and is a fantastic place for children’s birthday parties, with your birthday group being treated to a hands-on presentation before having free time to explore the center.

International Peace Garden

Not to be missed is the International Peace Garden, a pretty park that doubles as a restful spot to enjoy the prairie as it stretches out around you. This oasis of sorts is flanked by a pond and features a mosaic featuring an egret, as well as an intricately carved archway leading visitors to the main entrance of Coral Springs Center for the Arts.

Sandy Ridge Sanctuary

There’s another enormous stretch of woods in the middle of Coral Springs, albeit being much smaller than the Tall Cypress Natural Area. Sandy Ridge Sanctuary is a wildlife park with 37 acres of pine and bald cypress forests and a gorgeous lake. These eastern Everglades remains are home to certain uncommon Florida animals, such as gopher tortoises.

Several new amenities have been built over the years to attract residents to visit. On the sanctuary’s southern borders, you’ll discover playgrounds, picnic spots, restrooms, and water fountains. The rest are simply well-paved trails that go to the various portions of the park. Keep a watch out for the reptiles, birds, and insects that make the refuge home.

Orchid Park

The modest yet lovely Orchid Park is a sliver of greenery that promises a peaceful and undisturbed experience. So, if you want to get away from the city hubbub, stop by here. There’s lots of verdant open space, trees for shade, and a tiny canal on the four-acre green space. A bridge connects the attraction to neighboring Cypress Hammock Park, which spans the latter.

This building, more than just a corridor, elevates the panorama of the area, which is best appreciated from the grassy grounds adjacent to the waterway. Bring a blanket and some snacks with you when you explore these shady locations.

Westchester Park

The picturesque Westchester Park is located next to the bigger Sportsplex Park and is noted for its large lake as its principal geographical feature. Locals frequently utilize it for shore fishing, but you may simply relax on the banks and take in the breathtaking scenery.

There’s also a trail that goes parallel to the lake’s eastern border, taking you to the lake’s remote northern side. On the other end is the modest Coral Springs Community Garden, where residents produce and harvest fruits and vegetables.

It’s also close to the dog park, where pet owners may spend the afternoon with their canine companions. If you took your dog on your Coral Springs vacation, you should definitely stop by here.

Dr. Paul’s Pet Care Center Dog Park

Dr. Paul’s Pet Care Center Dog Park has a lot to offer, especially if you walk on four legs. There are fake fire hydrants to lift your leg on, tunnels to run through, rods to jump over, and showers to cool yourself in at this dog-friendly park.

Dr. Paul’s Pet Care Center Dog Park, an off-leash dog play area with beautiful lake views and plenty of seats, is a delightful location to let your furry companion run free for hours.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a nicer dog park in the neighborhood, let alone the state, with three separate sections to make socializing easier for dogs of various sizes, giant plastic pools to fill with cool water, and an agility course on offer. Have you forgotten your poop bag? Not to worry. There are lots available.
